India Wins - Tendulkar ton sets up famous win in Chennai

I never witnessed such an interesting test match for years played by India in India for a long time.
In so many ways it is the best and will stay in my fond memory forever, at least I do not want to forget this match, that’s why I am blogging it now, hope your cherish the same while reading.

Best 4th Inning Chase: In subcontinent (Chennai, especially) you know how the 5th day pitch behaves, it completely cracken up and behaves very slow and weird, spinners paradise.
India's successful run-chase is now the fourth-highest in Tests, and the highest in India. India’s confident was building higher and higher, every delivery. Very stable, very aggressive and yet smooth chasing. I see this attack against England as a well planned murder, yes. Shewag came right in front and gave a big blow on their face, England is dizzy now, Gautham and VVS kept punching them, non-stop. Then came the slow poisoning syringe from Sachin and Yuvaraj, they finished them.

Best Kick Start: Man of the match is something not measures his contribution, he deserves more, and he laid the platform. He turned the game, for India. Before start of 4th inning, it was tough to save the game, but in the end it was a easy win, only possible by the NATURALLY AGGRESSIVE animal SHEWAG. But Sehwag hadn't done anything differently; it was his normal batting, full of guts and instincts.

Best Team Effort: After bowling the final two sessions extremely well, India restricted England pretty well, and in batting cart every one pitched in well to keep the momentum going on. Gambhir as usual batted well with his partner. VVS, his ideal game is set up, 4th innings chase and he contributed little but very crucial runs. It's the fourth time - and the first time in an Indian win - that four Indian batsmen have scored fifty and above in the fourth innings of a Test.

Best Partnership: The match winning partnership, the unbeaten 163-run partnership between Sachin Tendulkar and Yuvraj Singh is the fifth-highest for India in the fourth innings, and the highest in a successful run-chase. They hinted no pressure, quick running between the wickets and keeping the asking rate well below their drives. Once again, Left and Right partnership came handy. Yuvi played absolute beauty considering his pressure to come back to the side.

Best Century: Wow, Wow..WOOOOOOOOOW. "Saaaaachiiiiiiin, Sachin……… Saaaaachiiiiiiin, Sachin "
The winning runs and 41st century coming of Sachin’s bat, felt yummy. The duet between Sachin and Chennai is continuing, for a change he contributed for a winning team. I was there in MAC, Chennai in 1999 when India lost against Pakistan despite Sachin’s century, it took so long to take the soar taste off. To score the winning runs in a record-shattering chase was special enough, but when that last stroke also brought up your 41st century, it became ineffably so. Never seen him so animated after the winning runs, he was a kid again.
Given all that's gone on over the past three weeks, this was so much more than just a match-winning century. His emotion was very true and he dedicated his innings for the cause. I am sure this will make many Indians smile despite the happenings (Mumbai Terror), Thanks Sachin!!!

Best Win: I wouldn't have been able to forgive myself if I had given it a miss watching this game. I will cherish this win for ever!

Truth behind the investigations of past terror attacks - A Petition

Truth behind the investigations of past terror attacks - A Petition
To,
The Home Minister
Ministry of Home Affairs,
Government of India,

Subject: Application under the RTI act, 2005

Sir/Madam,

This year there have been many instances of terrorist attacks on our country, which have resulted in at least 518 deaths including common citizens and law enforcement personnel. Our heart goes out to the families of the innocent victims and we salute the bravery of our armed and police forces. They are our real saviors and true patriots.

While the citizens of India have shown tremendous resilience and maintained communal harmony, we feel the Central Government and law enforcement agencies have not taken definitive and concrete measures against the perpetrators of these crimes against humanity. We are appalled by the antipathy shown by politicians during and after the terror attack on Mumbai. We are specifically outraged by politicians trying to extract mileage out of the tragedy that has fallen on the families of our martyrs.

We are in the dark on relief and support provided to the victims and the martyrs. We, the citizens of this country, would like the government to furnish detailed answers and supporting documents for the following questions from the Home Ministry for each of the incidents mentioned in the table below.

1. Does the home ministry has access to all the information related to legal proceedings related to the bomb blasts and terrorist attacks that happened across the country as mentioned in the above table?
1.1 Can the home ministry validate the number of fatal causalities and injuries in the respective incidents?
1.1.1 Please provide a detailed explanation, If you do not have information to provide an answer to question 1.1
1.1.2 Please provide the number of people who have received compensation, both monetary and in kind, from central and state government.
1.1.3 Please provide a detailed explanation on why all the victims have not received compensations as declared. Please ignore if every one has received all compensations as promised.
1.2 How many Police men, military and para military and other defense and other security personnel lost their lives or were permanently disabled in each of these terrorist attacks?
1.3 What kind of help and compensation has been provided to these personnel described in question 1.2
1.4 On which date was the charge sheet filed for each of these attacks?
1.4.1 What is the reason if the charge sheets have not been filed till now for these incidents? Please provide your answer for each incident respectively.
1.4.2 How many arrests have been made till now? Please provide your answer for each incident respectively.
1.4.3 How many people charged in the case have been granted bail? Please provide your answer for each incident respectively.
1.5 When was the last hearing done on each of these cases? Please provide your answer for each incident respectively.
1.6 Against how many conspirators, has the concerned law enforcement agency or police has not been able to provide any evidence leading to their release or delay in court proceedings? Please provide your answer for each incident respectively.
We would appreciate a quick response to this petition. Please let us know the cost incurred in the process of acquiring this information.

Thanking you.
Sincerely,
The undersigned citizen of India

How Obama got Chosen ?

I not only enjoyed the entire election tourney but also learned the complete process. Before this election I had few questions in my mind and was wondering how different the USA election process from Indian Election process.

Take a look at this

I had few questions like how can it be 52% to 47% when the electoral votes are 338 to 159. Later after little of googling, I found this wonderful video, very simple though. This video explains in very common mans language in around 3 minutes about the entire USA election process.

Right to Information Act- RTI

RTI?
Yeah, I just came to know about this three letter acronym few months back, initially I thought it’s just another effort to reform India, but it is much more than that.

RTI is not as famous or common in India as IPL, ICL, DMK, BJP, INR, NRI, IIT, IIM, SRK, MTV, B4U, IBN, ISA, USD, MLA....ETC etc. But RTI is related to all of these above field and more.

RTI stands for Right to Information.
Immediately two question hits our mind, “What Information?” and “What Rights?”

What Information?

Information means any material in any form including records, documents, memos, e-mails, opinions, advices, press releases, circulars, orders, logbooks, contracts, reports, papers, samples, models, data material held in any electronic form and information relating to any private body which can be accessed by a public authority under any other law for the time being in force but does not include "file notings"

What Rights?

It includes the right to -
i. inspect works, documents, records.
ii. take notes, extracts or certified copies of documents or records.
iii. take certified samples of material.
iv. obtain information in form of printouts, diskettes, floppies, tapes, video cassettes or in any other electronic mode or through printouts.

Yes, you have the Right to Question the government, Demand copies of government documents and also Inspect the work done by government. It covers Central, state and local government. RTI Public Information Officer (PIO) accepts the application, appeals and grievances. Government to act with in 30 days, if not penalty for inaction Rs 250 / day. You can file using written letter, phone or even email.
This video below is presented by us AID San Diego about RTI. This will give a brief picture how the system works with dramatization of a similar case.

Skit played by AID San Diego

So we wonder weather the system works or not, yes it works efficiently. There are lots of success stories on the same regard. You can find few here
RTI Success Stories

This is just the preface for this wonderful system, which is doing wonders all over the world, especially in India.

What we can do and be a part of this change?
• Pay no Bribes!
• File RTI if you encounter corruption (sample application)
• Spread the word

Gone Fishing, Andrew Symonds

Andrew Symonds in disguise.

Alex Brown, writing in the Sydney Morning Herald, goes back to January to find the start of Andrew Symonds’ problems, which culminated in him being sent home from Australia’s one-day series in Darwin.

To this day, Symonds has not forgiven Cricket Australia for what transpired in an Adelaide federal courtroom eight months ago. It was there that Symonds and three team-mates were convinced by CA to downgrade a charge of racial abuse against Harbhajan Singh to one of mere verbal abuse - a ploy the Australian players were advised would help ensure a lengthy suspension after the Monkeygate scandal, but one which eventually resulted in Harbhajan escaping sanction altogether.

Harbahjan's reprieve infuriated Symonds, who felt abandoned by administrators he felt were more interested in kow-towing to the influential Indian board than protecting their own. Sources within the Australian team say Symonds has refused all of CA's subsequent attempts to appease him, and the lingering resentment has fuelled his deteriorating attitude to work.

What should Symonds do? The Courier-Mail asks six experts, starting with the former Australia coach John Buchanan.

The winner of a competition to go fishing with Symonds in Darwin will still get the prize, according to AAP’s Adam Cooper.

We Wrestle, We Box if needed we will also Shoot for Medals

This is by far India's best performance in any Olympics. 3 Medals for India
One Gold and two bronze. The three heroes of Indian olympics are Abhinav bindra, Sushil Kumar, Vijender Kumar.

Abhinav Bindra: By winning the gold in the 10 m Air Rifle event at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, he became the first Indian to win an individual gold medal at the Olympic Games and India's first gold medal since 1980, when the Men's Field Hockey Team won the gold.

Sushil Kumar:
Unheralded Sushil Kumar rose from obscurity to find a place in the history of Indian sport when he won a bronze medal in men's 66kg freestyle wrestling at the Beijing Olympics.

Vijender Kumar: He became the first Indian boxer to win an Olympic medal when he won bronze medal in the middleweight category at 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing.

It is sad, Vijender missed the gold medal, he missed two GOLD here.
Yes,
Bipasha Basu has promised to go on a date with boxer Vijender Kumar if he brings a gold medal for India.

No, it's not a prank. The actress told a television channel, that she is ready to go on a date with the boxer after a reporter informed her that Vijender is a great fan of hers.

New initiative from Govt of India

Government of India has an online Grievance forum at http://darpg-grievance.nic.in/

The govt. wants people to use this tool to highlight the problems they faced while dealing with Government officials or departments like Passport Office, Electricity board, BSNL/MTNL, Railways etc.

So use this grievance forum and educate others who don't know about this facility. This way we can at least raise our concerns instead of just talking about the ' System ' in India.

Invite your friends to contribute for many such happenings.

Not sure if this will actually work, but at least it’s a step in the right direction.

The Story of Stuff

The Story of Stuff, a 20-minute video about where Stuff comes from and where it goes. Until today, however, I’d never taken time to watch it completely.

According to the web site:
From its extraction through sale, use and disposal, all the stuff in our lives affects communities at home and abroad, yet most of this is hidden from view. The Story of Stuff is a 20-minute, fast-paced, fact-filled look at the underside of our production and consumption patterns.

If you don't have whole 20 min, watch it in parts, later you will tempted to know for sure and you can watch rest of the chapters here.

Here’s the best part of The Story of Stuff chapter five, “Consumption”:

This is GOOD.

Best and Worst of IPL

After spending close to two months following IPL, I have few things still remaining in my mind. Its just my opinion :) So feel free to pour your opinion too.

Abbreviations Used:
Bangalore Royal Challengers: BRC, Delhi Daredevils: DD, Kings XI Punjab: KP, Mumbai Indians: MI, Chennai Super Kings: CSK, Deccan Chargers: DC, Kolkata Knight Riders: KKR, Rajasthan Royals: RR

Best and Worst

Jersey:
Worst- KKR,Surely KKR have the worst jersey as it makes them look weird with golden helmet and golden pads, especially those golden helmets on their head looks like they are wearing some kitchen utensil.

Best- CSK, may be I am influenced by the yellow color, which is owned by Aussies

Attitude:

Worst- Harbhajan was close to take away this title for slapping his teammate, but with due apologies to Harbhajan Singh, was Vijay Mallya. He paid big money for a team he later said he didn't believe in, and spoke out publicly against his captain and his players halfway through the tournament.

Best- This is the continuation of the above scenario, Rahul Dravid behaved with dignity and batted beautifully, despite of Mallya's behaviour and even as his team stumbled its way through the tournament, as happens in sport.

Team Name:

Worst- Mumbai Indians is not a good name for an IPL team because you are having so many foreign names in the list. Do you think the name Indian would motivate any of the foreign players?

Best- Daredevils suits to the image of the Delhi players like Sehwag, Gautam, Malik, Dhawan etc

Fielding:

Worst- BRC

Best- PK

Batting:

Worst- Yuvaraj, what happened to him, he never delivered when needed the most.

Best- Marsh, he is made for 20 20

Bowling:
Worst- Murali, lot expected

Best- Tanvir, least expected

Captain:

Worst- Laxman, he did not talk to players, actually he never spoke to himself.

Best- There is a TIE here, Warne for the way he glued the entire team and Dhoni for his ICE COOL attitude

Worth $$$:

Worst- Its Easy, DC
Best- Its Very Easy, RR

Street View Bypassed

Street View is probably point where technology starts peeping on to your privacy zone, just after Google Adsense started reading your emails.

Regarding Street View many people have voiced their concerns regarding the privacy implications of Google’s Street View service - but what if there were a way to “opt-out” of having your neighborhood displayed online?

Yes, it appears that some enterprising resident of Fairbanks, Alaska, has worked out how to completely disable the Street View car’s onboard recording device! Even better, the process doesn’t involve any technical wizardry - all you need to do is stick a plastic bag over the top of the camera.

See the location here

If you're like me, you've been wondering about the vehicles they're using to create those voyeuristic, 360-degree, street-level images in Manhattan's concrete canyons and beyond. Well, here's a hint: that's Immersive Media's vehicle reflected in the Street View picture captured below.

Himesh Reshammiya the Rap(Rip)per

"Kallai mattum kandal", it is the only song number from the entire album rewardable. BUT,
Even this song is pathetic rip off from this song from Malayalam movie Sainyam
The irony is, in this video the Vikram and Priya raman are dancing, so Vikram danced to this tune before Kamal did.
I simply don't understand how Kamal approved these songs, such a perfectionist.

Dasavatharam Song:

Original:

"Kalaiyai Mattum Kandal, Kalapadam theriyathu
Kalapadam Mattum Kandal, Business nadakathu"

My personal one line Song Review:
Ulaga Nayagan | Lyrics: Vairamuthu, Vocals: Vineet
Nice lyrics praising Kamal, peppy music. Not great

Oh Ho Sanam | Lyrics: Vairamuthu, Vocals: Kamal Haasan, Mahalakshmi Iyer
Heavy middle-eastern feel, not a Bhangra number. Himesh spoiled it in remix version with his voice, Kamal sang it bad too.

Mukundha Mukundha | Lyrics: Vaali, Vocals: Sadhana Sargam, Kamal Haasan
What does Himesh knows about South Indian Bhajan songs?

Kaa...Karuppanukkum | Lyrics: Vairamuthu, Vocals: Shalini Singh
Ordinary Lyrics, Arabian touch again. Cant bare.

Kallai mattum kandal | Lyrics: Vaali, Vocals: Hariharan and chorus
Great song, excellent lyrics. But Ripped from some other album

Who's Fault is this?
Kamal? KS Ravikumar? Oscar Pictures? On thier supervision or
Himesh Reshammiya for his negligence on such a huge project?

But one thing I am sure, only Kamal's name and Fame is tarnished here.

IPL, the clash with in Indians was supposed to bring on more talents rather than fight. Did we just tell Australians that they were right about Harbhajan and Sreesanth...ooooops. May be!
Is it any more Gentleman's Game?

The Indian Premier League faced its first on-field controversy with allegations that Harbhajan Singh hit Sreesanth, his India team-mate and IPL rival, after Friday's match between the Kings XI Punjab and the Mumbai Indians in Mohali. While Yuvraj Singh, Sreesanth's captain, said Harbhajan had apologised after the incident, it remains to be seen how the IPL will handle it as a disciplinary issue.

Video Showing, Sreesanth Crying

Sreesanth, who took two wickets for Punjab, was spotted in tears after the match - which his side won - and later confirmed the incident to Cricinfo.

Sources close to him said that after the match a smiling Sreesanth walked up to Harbhajan - the captain of the losing Mumbai Indians - and said "Hard luck". "That was enough for Harbhajan to lose his cool and hit Sreesanth under the eye," said sources close to the fast bowler.

Harbhajan refused to answer questions on the incident at the post-match press conference. "Can we have questions on just cricket," he said in response to questions relating to the incident. His opposing captain, however, was clear in his view. "This is really an ugly incident," Yuvraj said, "this is totally unacceptable." He added, though, that Harbhajan had visited the dressing-room after the match and apologised to Sreesanth.

"At the end of the day, players shake hands. But today saw more that from Harbhajan and Sreesanth," said Tom Moody, the Punjab coach. "The positive thing is that Harbhajan had a long chat with Sreesanth. But I am not sure what ramifications this incident will have." Cricinfo has learnt that Sreesanth complained about the incident to officials of the Mohali franchise, including co-owners Preity Zinta and Ness Wadia.

However, IS Bindra, the president of the Punjab Cricket Association, denied an official complaint has been lodged. "Some media people have asked me about this incident. No official complaint has reached me yet. I believe what happens on the field should be sorted out by the players on the field itself," Bindra told Cricinfo. Later Sreesanth told reporters at the stadium that "nothing serious happened" and that he and Harbhajan were "still part of the national team".

On-field relations between Harbhajan and Sreesanth appeared strained during the India-South Africa Test series as well. Sreesanth had dropped Hashim Amla off Harbhajan during the Chennai Test to which Harbhajan reacted with displeasure after which he was seen motioning towards Sreesanth after making a diving save at point.

This is the second time in the last six months that Harbhajan has been at the centre of controversy. Earlier this year the Australians accused him of racially abusing Andrew Symonds during the Test series Down Under.

ISRO successfully launches 10 satellites into orbit

ISRO successfully launches 10 satellites into orbit : Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) today created history with the launch of its latest Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV - C9). A world record was set when the mission successfully injected 10 satellites into the orbit.

The launch took off from Sriharikota Andhra Pradesh. PSLV weighs 230 tonnes and is as high as a 12-storey building. The mission was accomplished by putting two Indian satellites and eight foreign satellites. The previous record was held by Russia, which had launched eight satellites in one go.

The first stage of the rocket was ignited at the lift-off. Three minutes later a massive heat shield got peeled off. There after, the third and the fourth stages ignited taking the rocket higher.

Fifteen minutes after the flight, India's mapping satellite, CARTOSAT 2A was the first one to be put into its orbit. 45 second later India's remote sensing satellite was placed into orbit.

The other satellites were then released, sequentialy, with a gap of 20 seconds. The mission was concluded in 20 minutes after lift-up.

Japan's CUTE was the first foreign satellite to be placed in orbit and Germany's RUBIN was the last to be injected.

CORTOSAT 2A is a high resolution mapping satellite placed at a height of 600 kms. It has an ability to identify objects as small as cars from its orbit in space.

Photoshop (Online) Expresso

Adobe's announcement of Photoshop Express was the most interesting news for me. The maker of the popular photo-editing software Photoshop on Thursday launched a basic version available for free online.

This Rich Internet Application (RIA) will allow users to adjust their photos via a web browser instead of using an application that resides on their hard drive. This is particularly useful for travelers using a variety of public computers in conjunction with online photo services such as Flickr.

My current favorite online image editor of this type is Picnik, which I think works very well. Photoshop Express, as well as Picnik, are free RIA applications.

This is my Screen shot during exploring Photoshop Express.

RIA - This is the battlefield where Adobe and Microsoft and Google are going to fight some pretty big battles, Keep watching guys.

Creativity at its Best

Creativity at its Best

I always get annoyed seeing a commercial in between any TV program or a movie, it distracts also annoys. I have seen lot of them using that space to take a quick loo break, smoke break, make a quick call or even to browse different channels.

After coming to USA and getting used to American commercials, damn, I started missing Indian Commercials. Indian Commercials, very creative, very interesting yet so simple.

They stay in your mind fresh no matter how old they are. I am sure you can still recollect few commercials which are part of your childhood, humming all the way. To name a few Vicco Turmeric, Life Boy, Nirma, Gold spot, 7 Up, at least my age group will agree with me and different people will have different commercials in their back up memory.

I personally feel so many commercials in US TV channels are so stupid, only very few take effort to make sense like super bowl commercials, to be specific Bud commercials. But whereas, commercials in India will touch your heart immediately and stay in your mind forever.

So what makes Indian Commercials very different from the rest, why their quality is so high? I think its because of the crew behind it. There are so many talented professional behind it, to name a few. A R Rahman started his career as a music composer for a commercial, to name one, LEO Coffee. And the notable cinema photographer Rajiv Menon, he too started with commercials. Not only behind the crew members but also, the lead actors like Aravind swamy, Preity Zinta, Asin….etc.

Atleast me and my buddies grew up together seeing, feeling and also mocking these commercials. I dont want to miss them, thanks to Youtube, they have tubed almost everything there. But I am wondering who is doing this job now if all entered in to Movies. While wondering I also did a search on this and found interesting details.

I found a Numer Uno Team for current era, they are know as Ogilvy India

Ogilvy & Mather is an advertising agency based in New York City, founded by David MacKenzie Ogilvy, was a notable advertising executive. He has often been called “The Father of Advertising. Being said that, for some reasons I am not very impressed with the quality of work they provide in USA, but if you see the commercials in India provided by them, its breath taking. To name a few Fevicol,Happydent, Center Shock, Grasim, IBM, SBI life, Hutch, HSBC, Fed Ex, Hindustan Levers, Reid & Taylor and many more.
Why this difference? Because of these three creative heads behind it.
